Finding Empowerment through Running and Nature
We are a giving project, working with the nonprofit organization Mow & Sow, a 501(c)(3), focused on helping make the world around us a better, happier, healthier place. We want to empower women, over 35 years old, to engage or re-engage in physical and mental well-being through running.
The FERN Project serves the communities surrounding Arcata, California and Homer, Alaska. We hope to broaden our geographic reach in the near future.
Sometimes the hardest part of the journey is that first step. We want to get that journey going by giving our recipients a pair of running shoes, two sports bras, and entrance fees to an approved running event (5k, 10k, half-marathon, marathon, or triathlon) of their choice. Recipients are required to volunteer at an approved scheduled running event as well as an environmental or community cause event either before or after their big race day.
